Thank you cards can be your way of showing your gratitude to the people who have shown you love, concern and support. Every one of us goes through tough times in life that we want to give up, to throw in the proverbial towel, and tell the world that we are not fit for the lemons that it throws to our directions. Somewhere along the way, though, we find, meet, or go with someone who understands what we are going through and provide us with the needed support. We just find ourselves feeling light and breezy, cool and composed - away from the feeling of being high and dry. Our times with those people who have opened their doors and let us come in have made us more in tune with our real, understanding selves. We begin to laugh more, spend time with friends, enjoy our work, and pardon the pun and the aching cliché, make lemonades out of lemon.

There are a lot of things we can do to show our heartfelt gratitude. We can take our family members, friends, and loved ones to lunch or dinner, give checks or presents, and treat them to a movie, a play or a cup of coffee, among other things. Sometimes, though, the least expected can be the most memorable. How often do you mail your family a letter, call your friends in a heartbeat, or make random acts of kindness as a reward to those who have shown us equal or sometimes more generosity than we could imagine? Let's face it: We take our friends and family members' efforts for granted. We do not say thank you when they wanted to hear it. We forget to acknowledge their support even if they have become selfless. There is still time though to compensate for our manners. We can make every minute count, and say two simple words: thank you.

It is just through verbal communication though that we get to express our sincerest feelings. We can also make use of written communication, such as making letters and sending thank you cards, to share our sentiments. One advantage of sending thank you cards to people close to our heart is that they get to keep the material all they want. They can store it on their memory boxes for posterity. There are people who take pleasure in reading old messages, handwritten ones, which tugs our heartstrings. There is nothing more special than handwritten messages, carefully thought of and probably have taken hundred pieces of paper to finalize. Writing a message can be a challenge for anyone. We tend to pour our heart's content, sometimes over share what we feel. We can also be tongue tied; the words seemed to be lodged permanently on our throats.

The process can be moving, too. That's the beauty of making thank you cards. We share our most honest feelings, making anyone feel special. Not many people who send thank you cards can be truthful. That is why it is always important that you share how you exactly feel. You do not have to resort on cliché messages and run-of-the-mill statements. You can make it just the way it should be: to be personal. Make your receiver feel appreciated by what he or she has shown you when you needed love and protection most.
